FAQ's

Can my existing fixtures be cleaned or polished to restore the shine they've lost?
If your fixture is made of fiberglass, acrylic, or cultured marble, they can - in some cases - be polished. If normal household cleaners fail to bring back the shine on your other fixtures, your finish has most likely been damaged or worn and has probably become pitted and porous. The more you scrub, the worse it will be.
Do I have to refinish the entire fixture?
In most cases, yes. However it depends upon the circumstances.
How much does it cost to replace an average tub?
The cost can vary, depending on the quality of the replacement fixture and the amount of work and damage done to existing plumbing, tile and plaster; usually $1500 to $3000. Refinishing, on the other hand, costs considerably less.
Do Surface Medic technicians repair plumbing?
No, however we can refer you to a licensed plumber or supply a list of plumbers who we have used or referred in the past.
When I have a fixture refinished does it require special care or cleaning materials?
No. The new Surface Medic finish should be cleaned with a non-abrasive cleaner just as you would with a new fixture or tile. Abrasives are capable of damaging even the most durable surfaces.
Can a single chip in my fixture be repaired?
Yes. They can be repaired and completely blended into the surface. After repairs they will be almost invisible!
Is the Surface Medic finish real porcelain?
No, it is a state-of-the-art synthetic glaze which has the luster and texture of porcelain with unbelievable durability and toughness.
How long does it take to refinish a fixture, tile or appliance?
Usually a few hours and always less than one day. Most of the time is spent in preparing the original surface for reglazing. When the Surface Medic finish has been applied, there is only a 24 hour "curing" time required before the fixture can be used.
What should I do to prepare the fixture for the Surface Medic process?
Repair or replace any plumbing problems (leaking faucets, broken handles, pipes) and remove any hardware such as shower doors and tracks which are directly connected to the tub or sink.
Will I have to put up with toxic fumes or bad odors?
Definitely not! Any odors from chemicals we use are exhausted by window or fan and gone within a few hours.
Why should I choose Surface Medic for my refinishing needs?
There are many reasons. Surface Medic is one of the most established and respected names in the multi-surface restoration industry. We currently work for many prominent Hotel and Property Management companies. Surface Medic is a network of approximately 160 franchises.
Is there a charge for an estimate or inspection?
No...and there is always a question or two not covered in a brochure. Please call or email and let us answer it for you.
